PT - Em suas muitas viagens, o P. Dehon gostava de rezar diante da natureza. As árvores das florestas, as flores, os pássaros, o lago, o deserto...tudo parece levá-lo ao encontro do Criador. Mas, o que mais nutre a sua oração é o espetáculo grandioso do mar. As longas viagens oferecem-lhe o espaço para o silêncio, a observação paciente, a admiração, a leitura de textos poéticos e sobretudo da palavra de Deus. Dehoniana traz aqui alguns textos inéditos do P. Dehon que falam do oceano como símbolo do Coração de Jesus: abismo de humildade, ternura, paciência, bondade, vida interior, pureza e desapego. Fazem parte do “Retiro sobre o mar” escrito durante a sua viagem ao Brasil, em 1906. Estes textos não foram publicados na coleção “Oeuvres Spirituelles”.

EN - During his many travels, Fr. Dehon loved to pray with nature. The trees of the forest, flowers, birds, lakes, and desert... everything seemed to lead him to the Creator. But the one thing that nourished his prayer the most was the glorious sight of the sea. His long trips offered him time for silence, patient observation, admiration, reading poetry and, above all, Sacred Scripture. This article presents some unpublished texts written by Father Dehon that speak of the ocean as a symbol of the Heart of Jesus. They are part of his "Retreat on the sea", which he wrote during his trip to Brazil in 1906. These texts were not published in the Collection "Œuvres Spirituelles".

Discours aux Ouvriers pour la fête de saint François-Xavier

ES - Se observa que este discurso es muy importante porque fue pronunciado en el año en que el P. Dehon reanudó su acción social y tres meses después de su audiencia con el Papa León XIII. El discurso tiene tres capítulos: El primero explica como la Iglesia siempre fue el instrumento de la libertad, de la civilización y de la paz social. El segundo describe la crisis social reinante y sus causas. El tercer capítulo invita a los obreros a pedir al Estado leyes que los protegen, a organizar las corporaciones cristianas y regresar a la Iglesia.

EN - Please note that this speech is very important because it was given in the year that Fr. Dehon resumed his social action and three months after his audience with Pope Leo XIII. There are three parts to the address: The first part explains how the Church has always been an instrument of liberty, civilization and social peace. The second part describes the prevailing social crisis and its causes. The third part invites workers to ask the State for laws that protect them, to organize Christian corporations and to return to the Church.

Lettres adressées au p. Dehon pour préparer son entrée dans la Congrégation

ES - El artículo primero recuerda sumariamente los contactos del Abate Prévot con la M. Verónica Lioger del Sagrado Corazón , Fundadora de las Religiosas Víctimas del Sagrado Corazón. Después comenta las 10 cartas enviadas por el Abate Prévot al P. Dehon durante los años 1883-1885. Estas cartas revelan su camino hacia nuestra Congregación a través de dificultades personales, pastorales y especialmente de parte de su Director espiritual, un padre jesuita. Todo cambia, cuando puede enviarle a su Director una carta del P. Modeste, también jesuita, que era Director espiritual del mismo Padre Dehon. Fue recibido por el P. Dehon en San Quintín el 21 de mayo de 1885. Sigue el texto francés original de todas las cartas enviadas.

EN - The first article summarizes contacts between Abbot Prévot and Mother Verónica Lioger of the Sacred Heart, Foundress of the Victims of the Sacred Heart Sisters. Then it offers a commentary on the ten letters sent by Prévot to Fr. Dehon during the period of 1883-1885. These letters shed light on the journey that led him to our Congregation, a journey that passed through personal and pastoral difficulties, especially on the part of his spiritual Director, a Jesuit. This changed, however, when he was able to send his Director a letter from Fr. Modeste, also a Jesuit, who was Father Dehon's Spiritual Director. He was received by Fr. Dehon in Saint Quentin on May 21, 1885. Following are the texts of all the letters sent in their original French.

Abandon

IT - P. André Perroux ci presenta ciò che egli chiama una prima "raccolta" di testi sul tema dell'ABBANDONO. Spera che possa essere utile ai formatori, ai membri della Famiglia Dehoniana e a tutti i confratelli che sentono il bisogno di approfondire la conoscenza della nostra spiritualità e di alimentare la loro vita. Non si tratta di uno studio sul tema dell'abbandono, ma di uno stimolo per familiarizzarci con la qualità spirituale del nostro Fondatore, la costanza della sua unione col Signore, nel desiderio di conoscere e fare la sua volontà. È una occasione per entrare nella scuola del Cuore di Cristo, nella sua totale disponibilità alla volontà del Padre, e per intravedere la grande ricchezza di questo atteggiamento di abbandono che ci viene proposto come segreto della nostra vocazione.

EN - Fr. André Perroux presents us what he calls a first "collection" of texts on the theme of ABANDONMENT. He hopes that it can be of some use to formation team members, to members of the Dehonian Family and all the confreres who feel a need to deepen their knowledge of our spirituality and nourish their own living of it. It is not a study of the theme of abandonment but a stimulus to become more familiar with the spiritual quality of our Founder, the constancy of his union with the Lord, in the desire to know and do his will. It is an opportunity to enter into the school of the Heart of Christ, in his total openness to the will of the Father, and to perceive the great richness of this attitude of abandonment that is given us as the secret of our vocation.

Le Père Dehon, Consulteur de l'Index, et "l'Action Française"

PT - O artigo apresenta-nos o livro de Jacques Prévotat: «Les Catholiques et L'Action Française. Histoire d'une Condamnation. 1899-1930», publicado em abril de 2001. Trata-se de um resumo de sua tese, defendida em 1994, na Universidade de Nanterre. A tese, de quase 2000 páginas, é fruto de uns vinte anos de pesquisa e trazia o título: «Catholiques français et L'Action Française. Étude des deux condamnations romaines».
O livro de Prévotat interessa-nos muito de perto porque, além de ser um trabalho de especialista, trata de um período importante da História recente e que coincide com os primeiros anos de nossa Congregação. Mais ainda, trata-se de uma questão na qual a contribuição do Padre Dehon foi decisiva, no seu serviço à Igreja, como consultor do Índice. Para nós esta participação do Padre Dehon é, ainda, quase totalmente desconhecida.
Daí, a intenção destas páginas: apresentar o livro, resumir o seu conteúdo e buscar informações que Prévotat nos traz sobre o trabalho e a personalidade do Padre Dehon.

EN - The article presents the book by Jacques Prévotat "Catholics and French Action: The Story of a Condemnation. 1899-1930", published in April of 2001. It is a summary of his doctoral dissertation, defended in 1994 at the University of Nanterre . The thesis of almost 2,000 pages is the fruit of twenty years of work, and bears the title: "French Catholics and French Action: The Study of Two Roman Condemnations.” This book by Prévotat is of special interest to us because, more than being the work of a specialist, is very interesting, it deals with an important period of recent history, which also coincides with the first years of our Congregation. Rather, it is a question to which Fr. Dehon made a decisive contribution in his service to the Church as a consultor for the Index. Fr. Dehon's participation in this activity is almost entirely unknown to us, so in these pages we present the book, summarize its contents and the information we can gather from what Prévotat offers us about Fr. Dehon's work and personality.

Leo Dehon and the Charism of Priesthood

IT - Una lezione tenuta nella Scuola di teologia di Hales Corners in occasione dell'anno dedicato a P. Leone Dehon nel 125° della fondazione della Congregazione. Dopo aver trattato, nella prima parte, la visione rinnovata del sacerdozio che emerge nei documenti del concilio Vaticano II, nella seconda, presenta la visione del sacerdozio secondo P. Dehon. Due erano i suoi principali punti di riferimento: Innanzi tutto, il cristocentrismo del card. P. de Bérulle e, in collegamento con questo, il mistero dell'incarnazione in forza del quale tutti gli atteggiamenti, le disposizioni e l'amore del Cristo hanno una efficacia permanente. Da qui la duplice partecipazione al sacerdozio di Cristo: il sacerdozio comune dei battezzati e il sacerdozio ordinato. Tre sono, secondo P. Dehon, le componenti fondamentali del sacerdote ordinato: studio, preghiera, azione. La sua vocazione è quella di essere sacerdote e vittima, come Cristo, attraverso un totale abbandono in Dio e per la sua gloria.

FR - Conférence donnée à l'École de théologie de Hales Corners pendant l'année dédiée au P. Dehon à l'occasion du 125 e anniversaire de la fondation de la Congrégation. Après avoir exposé, dans la première partie, la vision renouvelée du sacerdoce qui émerge des documents du Concile Vatican II, l'auteur présente, dans la seconde, la vision du sacerdoce selon le P. Dehon. Ses deux points de référence principaux sont les suivants: Avant tout le christocentrisme du card. P. de Bérulle et, en relation avec celui-ci, le mystère de l'incarnation, en vertu duquel toutes les attitudes, les dispositions et l'amour du Christ ont une efficacité permanente. D'où la double participation au sacerdoce du Christ: le sacerdoce commun des baptisés et le sacerdoce ordonné. Selon le P. Dehon, les caractéristiques essentielles du prêtre ordonné sont au nombre de trois: étude, prière, action. Sa vocation est celle d'être prêtre et victime, comme le Christ, à travers l'abandon total à Dieu et pour sa gloire.

La Famiglia Dehoniana e la carta di comunione

FR - Cette contribution est une conférence tenue par le Supérieur Général en octobre 2002 pendant la rencontre de quelques membres de la Famille Dehonienne. Le fil conducteur est la présence d'un même noyau inspirant, dans la pluralité et la diversité des vocations personnelles, à partir de l'expérience de foi du P. Dehon, centrée sur le mystère de l'Incarnation. Celle-ci est vécue à la lumière du Cœur de Jésus ouvert et transpercé sur la croix comme signe de l'amour de Dieu et source de l'homme nouveau. Avec une grande clarté et profondeur le conférencier met en évidence quatre temps: la nouveauté du partage du même charisme, pas tellement nouveau par le fait du partage, un phénomène antique, mais par la modalité dans l'Église d'aujourd'hui, à partir de la théologie de Vatican II; l'histoire de la mise en commun du projet du P. Dehon; la réalité de la Famille Dehonienne aujourd'hui; et, pour terminer, les clés de lecture de la lettre de communion de la Famille Dehonienne, fruit de la I re Rencontre internationale de la Famille Dehonienne (octobre 2000).

EN - This contribution is a conference given by the Superior General to a gathering of some members of the Dehonian Family in October of 2002. The leitmotiv is the presence of a single inspiration despite the plurality and diversity of personal vocations, beginning from Fr. Dehon's experience of faith, which is centered on the mystery of the Incarnation lived in the light of the Heart of Jesus, open and pierced on the cross as a sign of God's love and the origin of the new man. With great clarity and depth four movements are retraced: the novelty of sharing the same charism, novelty not so much in the fact that it is shared, which is an ancient phenomenon, as much as in the way it is shared in the Church of today, with the theology of Vatican II as a point of departure; the history of the sharing of Fr. Dehon's evangelical project; the reality of the Dehonian Family today; and, last of all, the keys to interpreting the charter of communion of the Dehonian Family, the fruit of the 1st International Meeting of the Dehonian Family (October 2000).

Specificità apostolica degli SCJ (in preparazione del Capitolo Generale)

FR - C'est le thème proposé à l'étude du XXI e Chapitre Général; l'auteur a l'intention d'y contribuer par cet article. À la lumière du "Nous, Congrégation, au service de la mission", on a beaucoup réfléchi, au cours du dernier sexennat, sur notre identité charismatique qui dérive de la spiritualité dehonienne. Maintenant il s'agit d'approfondir notre identité apostolique. À la question de fond: "En tant que SCJ, avons-nous un apostolat qui nous caractérise dans l'Église?", l'auteur donne trois réponses convergentes, qui sont analysées: - Il doit y avoir une influence réciproque entre spiritualité et apostolat; - notre spiritualité doit devenir opérationnelle, non seulement au niveau spirituel et dévotionnel, mais aussi au niveau apostolique; - l'apostolat exige que notre spiritualité se concrétise davantage et s'exprime dans notre vie personnelle et communautaire avec des modalités déterminées.

EN - This is the theme proposed for the study of the XXI st General Chapter ; the author hopes to contribute to it by means of this article. During the past six years we have reflected a great deal in the light of "We the Congregation at the service of the Mission ,” on our charismatic identity that is derived from Dehonian spirituality. Now it is time to delve deeper into our apostolic identity. To the fundamental question, “As SCJs, do we have an apostolate that characterizes us in the Church?”, the author offers three convergent responses which he proceeds to analyze. There must be a mutual influence between spirituality and apostolate; our spirituality must become operational, not only at the spiritual and devotional level, but also at the level of the apostolate; the apostolate demands the further concretization of our spirituality an is expressed in our personal and community life in determined ways.

ES - Provocado por el artículo del P. Ledure en el número 2002/3 de Dehoniana, el autor quiere presentar algunas proposiciones muy concretas en la línea de la preparación al próximo Capítulo General: - Que el Capítulo predisponga lo necesario para redactar un proyecto formativo general y pastoral del cristiano, fundado en "el corazón". - Que el Capítulo pida a una Comisión de estudiar proposiciones concretas para traducir en práctica nuestra misión de "ser profetas del amor y servidores de la reconciliación". - Que el Capítulo haga un proyecto a nivel mundial de difundir el culto y la espiritualidad del Corazón de Cristo. - Que el Capítulo estudie la posibilidad de crear un Instituto Superior para aplicar nuestra espiritualidad a la acción pastoral y social y a la nueva evangelización .

EN - Stimulated by Fr. Ledure's article in the 2002/3 issue of Dehoniana, the author seeks to present some very concrete proposals in light of preparations for the coming General Chapter:
- That the Chapter should have whatever is necessary to draft a general pastoral formation plan based on “the heart”. – That the Chapter asks a Commission to study concrete proposals for putting into practice our mission to “be prophets of love and servants of reconciliation”. – That the Chapter draft a plan at the universal level to spread devotion to and the spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Christ. – That the Chapter study the possibility of creating a Superior Institute to apply our spirituality to pastoral and social action and to the new evangelization.

50° Anniversario di opere di formazione

FR - Trois œuvres significatives de la Congrégation, consacrées à l'éducation, ont célébré le 50 e anniversaire de leur fondation:
- L'Institut Missionnaire (École Apostolique) de Coimbra , grâce à la sympathie de l'archevêque et l'excellente collaboration de nos Pères avec l'archidiocèse sur le plan pastoral, a commencé à se développer rapidement, d'abord, en 1952, à l'abri du Séminaire diocésain, pour se transférer ensuite dans la "Casa das Alpenduradas, puis au "Colégio Camões", et enfin dans les bâtiments actuels, inaugurés en 1960.
- En septembre 1952, après 4 ans de présence dehonienne dans la ville universitaire de Salamanca , la communauté du scolasticat de la nouvelle Province Espagnole a occupé la première aile du bâtiment actuel, terminé dans sa totalité 7 ans plus tard. Depuis 1972 la maison abrite aussi le noviciat et, à l'heure actuelle, elle sert en plus comme maison d'accueil pour les différentes réunions de la Province, exercices spirituels, cours de formation permanente du clergé diocésain et comme résidence pour étudiants universitaires.
- Les 50 ans d'activités du Séminaire de Pointe-au-Chêne , né en 1953, ont fourni l'occasion pour la publication d'un "livre-souvenir" - présenté par le P. A. Perroux - faisant revivre l'histoire de cette école qui a concrétisé une des grandes préoccupations du P. Dehon.

EN - Three important works of the Congregation, dedicated to education, celebrated the 50 th anniversary of their foundation:
- Thanks to the kindness of the Archbishop and our fathers' excellent collaboration with the Archdiocese on the pastoral plan, the Missionary Institute (The Apostolic School) of Coimbra , began to develop rapidly, first in 1952, when it was housed in the diocesan seminary, and then transferred later to the "Casa das Alpenduradas,” still later to the "Colégio Camões", and finally to its present location in buildings dedicated in 1960.
- In September 1952, after four years of a Dehonian presence in the university city of Salamanca , the scholastic community of the new Spanish Province moved into the first wing of the present building, the rest of which was finished seven years later. Since 1972 this building also houses the novitiate and, at present, it also serves as a gathering place for various meetings of the Province, retreats, ongoing formation courses for the diocesan clergy and a residence for university students.
- The 50 years of activity of the Seminary in Pointe-au-Chêne , begun in 1953, offered the occasion for the publication of a “souvenir book” – presented by Fr. A. Perroux – which helps us to relive the history of that school that helped concretize one of Fr. Dehon's great concerns.

IT - Questo libro, frutto di un discernimento rigoroso, si propone di mostrare come il cristianesimo, lontano di essere una specie di cometa estranea ai sistemi di interpretazione e di valori della società moderna, marcata dall'illuminismo, fa parte strutturalmente della storia umana, sempre in evoluzione. In questa prospettiva, rifondare il cristianesimo significa tornare alle sue radici genuine, al suo vero e unico fondamento: la Persona di Gesù di Nazareth, Dio fatto uomo.

EN – This book, the result of rigorous discernment, seeks to show how Christianity, far from being a kind of comet that is foreign to the systems of interpretation and value systems of modern society, which is marked by illuminism, is a structural component of human history, which is always evolving. In this perspective, a refounding of Christianity means a return to its genuine roots, to its one true foundation, the Person of Jesus of Nazareth, God made man.

IT - Un breve sussidio che alimenta la meditazione orante per 15 giorni in compagnia di P. Leone Dehon. Il lettore è introdotto dall'indicazione che il taglio dottrinale trova ispirazione da due fonti che hanno formato il protagonista: la “scuola francese” del XVII secolo e la “cristologia del Cuore trafitto” derivata dalle rivelazioni a S. Margherita M. Alacoque. Seguono 15 quadri che intrecciano sapientemente lo svolgimento della vita e dell'opera di P. Dehon con precise referenze estratte da suoi scritti e con brevi commenti dell'autore. Un lavoro prezioso e gustoso che solo la profonda e devota conoscenza di P. Dehon, quale quella dell'autore, poteva ispirare.

EN - A handbook that fosters 15 days of meditative prayer in company with Fr. Leone Dehon. The introduction shows the reader how the doctrinal approach is inspired by two sources that were responsible for the formation of our protagonist: the “French school” of the 17 th century and the “Christology of the Sacred Heart”, derived from the revelations of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. This is followed by 15 sections that unite in a balanced way the development of the life and work of Fr. Dehon with precise references taken from his writings and brief comments from the author. This is a valuable and pleasurable work that could only be inspired by a deep and devoted knowledge of Fr. Dehon, such as the author enjoys.
